“QUEENS OF CHESS” COMPETITION ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
The traditional girls chess tournament held every year on March 8th, called "THE QUEENS OF CHESS" was also held this year in the ceremonial hall of the Vracar City Municipality in Belgrade. It gathered around 200 participants, the most numerous being students from Belgrade elementary schools from 7 to 12 years old. For the fifth year in a row, the tournament has been organized with our support and with great effort by the Dolphin Chess Club. It is designed to promote women's chess and support gender equality. The tournament was hosted this year by the Municipality of Vracar, and the event was attended by the RTS and Studio B news teams. The competitors were divided into age groups, and all tournament participants, regardless of their final placement, received medals, trophies and chess books. They were also presented with gift bags containing sweets.
The girls were very interested in the tournament and enjoyed the competition as well as the socializing. Scientific research has shown that chess increases the intellectual, moral and emotional capacities of children. Therefore, through this project, through a free system of learning and competition in which we provide the best participants with appropriate rewards, we contribute to the intellectual, cognitive, moral and spiritual development of children and young people.
