SCHOLARSHIPS FROM THE DIASPORA
The San Francisco-based Studenica Foundation awarded scholarships to students from Serbia again this year. The top thirty were selected from the large number of candidates who applied for the scholarship for the 2019/2020 academic year. At a ceremony organized on this occasion in Belgrade today, scholarship contracts were signed with them followed by a program prepared by former and current scholars.

Although the rule is that scholarships be awarded to students in their final years of study, this year the foundation also awarded several scholarships to exceptional students in postgraduate studies. The annual stipend is $ 200,000.
President of the Studenica Foundation, Mr. Miroslav Majkl Djordjevic, congratulated the students and sent a message to the students, winners of the scholarship, in which he said, among other things:
"There is no better way, no way, to activate and use the collective mind of a nation than to support the comprehensive education of its individuals. I wish you every success along the way because you are a great strength to our people, and an unmatched potential for a better future.I would like to draw your attention to the fact that this future will not be easy, because the twentieth century has destroyed many universal, and our traditional folk spiritual and moral values: Belief in God, truth and justice , faith in honesty, without which true freedom and progress in better lives are not possible. These values must be restored. It is up to you and future generations to hold this most important responsibility. "

Alumni and board member of the Studenica Foundation, Nenad Krzman, addressed the students, saying: "It is certain that the founders of the Foundation, when they launched such a noble initiative, in addition to their desire to help educate young people in Serbia, had a vision to establish a long-term and sustainable scholarship process. Now, 25 years later, we have confirmation that they have really succeeded, and I want to express, on behalf of my former scholars, on my own behalf, the particular pleasure of being able to be part of such an initiative. ”

This is the twenty-sixth generation of students who are awarded scholarships by the Studenica Foundation. Since its founding in 1993 until today, it has awarded scholarships to over two thousand young people of all educational backgrounds, many of whom today are leaders in the political, public and business life of Serbia, the region and the world.
The Studenica Foundation also grants scholarships to Serbian students from Serbia, Republika Srpska, Montenegro, and Croatia, and, as stated at the scholarship ceremony by the Vice President of the Foundation, Dr. Slavka Draskovic, a special competition for 10 more scholarships will be announced for these students in early 2020. The meeting also announced that the Studenica Foundation has a representative office in Serbia since 2006, and this year it has opened an office in Belgrade, and plans to increase activities, especially in the region and to provide more scholarships.
