Dušica Protić
Dushica Protic is an attorney in New York City. Mrs. Protic has practiced law for over 30 years in New York, specializing in the securities laws, compliance and litigation. She worked at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission as Staff Attorney, in private practice for 12 years at the prominent international law firm of Weil Gotshal and Manges, as Senior Counsel of the New York Stock Exchange, as Chief Regulatory Counsel of the American Stock Exchange reporting directly to the Board of Directors, and most recently as Director at UBS Securities LLC. Mrs. Protic graduated from Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, with honors, majoring in English and comparative literature, and from Fordham University School of Law, receiving a Juris Doctorate, where she was Editor of the International Law Journal. She is the published author of numerous scholarly legal articles and co-author of the Corporate Counsellor’s Deskbook, a legal textbook, which is updated periodically and widely used by general counsels of US public corporations.
Mrs. Protic was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (now Serbia), but moved to Harar, Ethiopia when she was 5 years old with her parents and brother, where her late father was a practicing physician and researcher. The family immigrated to New York in 1967, where her father continued to practice medicine.
Currently, Mrs. Protic sits on the Auxiliary Board of Northwell Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, NY. She is an Alumni Admissions Ambassador for Cornell University. She is also one of the founders and a manager of the Serbian American Professional Networking Group on LinkedIn with over 9000 members. Mrs. Protic is also on the Legal Risk and Compliance Committee of the Central Church Council for the Serbian Orthodox Church in the US and a member of the Church Diocesan Council for the Eastern Diocese.
Previously, Mrs. Protic was a member of the Board of Directors and New York Chapter Head of the Serbian Unity Congress for over 10 years, a non-profit organization founded to promote and nurture Serbian culture and heritage in diaspora and foster relations between Serbia and the diaspora. Mrs. Protic was also a Director for many years of the Nikola Tesla Memorial Society of New York, a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and publicizing the contributions to humanity of this great scientist.
She lives in Manhattan with her husband, Dr. John (Jovan) Protic. Their son Nikola is a graduate of Cornell University, College of Engineering, with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physics engineering and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Chicago in applied physics. He works for a well-known Consulting firm in New York City.
