By promoting youth education, we are investing in the future of the whole society.
Vision
Knowledge, moral, cultural, scientific and philanthropic values are the foundation of society. Through education and commitment to these principles, we contribute to Serbia's progress.
Mission
Our mission is to support and enhance the efforts of institutions and individuals in creating better conditions for the development of education that will benefit both them and the Serbian society as a whole, and the world at large. We accomplish our mission through our programs. You can learn more about them here.
The Studenica Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt, foundation based in the United States of America, founded in 1993. The Foundation was founded by distinguished individuals of the Serbian diaspora in America: the late Vidak Chelovich (Detroit, Michigan), the late Bora Vukovich (Denver, Colorado), and Michael (Miroslav) Djordjevich (San Rafael, California) with their families, to assist the intellectual and economic development of society in Serbia and its people in the region.
We hope that future generations will be inspired by our work and continue to help generations to come.
Our name
The foundation is named "Studenica" after the famous Serbian monastery which was built in 1190, which has been the center of Serbian literacy and knowledge for several centuries. The UNESCO-protected Studenica Monastery is a symbol of enlightenment and philanthropic tradition of Serbia. Our foundation has received approval from the monastery to use the name Studenica for our Foundation and the Studenica Cross as a symbol of growth and progress.
