Meeting of alumni in Switzerland
This month, we were delighted with the news of the meeting of two of our alumni in Switzerland, where they are both attending PhD studies at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne University. Jelena Janković and Helena Miljković are successful young girls who have continued to build their academic careers at a world-renowned university. Apart from the fact that they are united by education and similar affinities, through the conversation they came to the conclusion that another common point is that they were both scholarship holders of the Studenica Foundation. Jelena had been receiving a scholarship until 2016, and Helena until last year.
In September 2019, Jelena Janković enrolled in a PhD program in Switzerland, which she is currently attending, and she has had brilliant years of study at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad. She completed her undergraduate and master's academic studies with an average of 10.00, as one of the best students. During her student days, she was a demonstrator and an assistant at the faculty, and she was awarded several times for her scientific and professional work. She participated in the International Telecommunication Forum "TELFOR 2015" with the scientific work "One Solution of the Accurate Summation Using Fixed-point Accumulator". She is also the winner of the award given by the University of Novi Sad for scientific and professional work on the topic of "Generic Programming".
She was named the best student in the promotion in the field of Electrical Engineering and Computing and the best student in the promotion of the Faculty of Technical Sciences by the Faculty of Technical Sciences for 2017/2018. year. After great accomplishments, she enrolled in PhD program at her faculty, and the path led her further to Switzerland, where she is still located.
Helena Miljković completed her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Physics and Electrical Engineering, and her master's studies at the Faculty of Physics, majoring in Theoretical and Experimental Physics. For years she was a participant in the Physics seminar at IS "Petnica", and then she became an associate at the seminars of Physics, Technical Sciences and the Summer Science School. She wrote two projects on "Investigating the characteristics of a floating fluid bridge" and "Investigating 2D structures of magnetic solid spheres in an external magnetic field using the molecular dynamics method" in collaboration with scientific groups from the Institute of Physics in Belgrade.
She finished the elementary music school "Stanković" and started the same high school of music in the piano department. She is also a member of the swimming club “11. April ”where she has been training for 10 years. In her free time, she attends cultural events and likes to compete. She has participated in numerous competitions in mathematics, physics and piano.
She is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne University in Switzerland.
Since its founding, the Studenica Foundation has been working to maintain contacts with its alumni, but it is also trying to make them socialize and cooperate with each other. We are proud of Helena and Jelena, and that we were a part of their schooling, as well as that they make us happy for years with their accomplishments, which we are proud to present to you.
