About the projectThe project "Restoring the Prestige of Teaching Professions" was launched in 2023 to empower future teachers and restore the honour of these noble professions.
The goal of this project is to support future educators on their academic journey, encourage young people to enrol in colleges that prepare them for these careers, and raise public awareness about the importance of their work. In this way, we also aim to contribute to the overall improvement of the education system. |
According to data from the Ministry of Education, there is a shortage of approximately 700 mathematics teachers, 300 physics teachers, and 200 computer science teachers. Teachers have been classified among the list of in-demand professions in Serbia, and deans of faculties training future educators warn that the number of students choosing these professions is continuously declining. This trend raises an important question about whether there will be enough qualified teachers in the future to educate our children.
The Studenica Foundation aims to inspire individuals, institutions, organizations, and associations to take immediate and concrete actions to restore the deserved prestige of the teaching profession. We believe that only through collective efforts can we ensure quality education and upbringing, which are crucial for the survival and progress of our society. |

In collaboration with all faculties in Serbia that educate young people for teaching professions, and with support from the media and promotion through social networks, we launched this project in 2023 to encourage high school graduates to choose these career paths.
Of the 45 scholarships awarded in the 2023/2024 academic year, 14 scholarships were allocated specifically to students from teacher training and pedagogical faculties, as well as students majoring in Serbian language and mathematics at the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Belgrade. The funds for these scholarships were raised during a charity evening, with the support of numerous benefactors and friends of the Studenica Foundation. You can read more about the event here. |
