After the introductory speech, the Executive Vice President Mirjana Samardžija from San Francisco addressed the audience, talking about the importance of alumni organization and how alumni are key to maintaining the Foundation.
Dr. Slavka Draskovic, vice president and director of the office in Serbia, said that "they are an exceptional elite group of young people who, with their existence and success in their professions and society, are already changing reality, and together they can do so much for themselves, the foundation and society as a whole "
Dušica Protić from New York, Vice President of the Board of Directors, also addressed the audience, sharing her experiences from alumni organizations and ideas for further steps the alumni should take.
Nenad Krzman, alumni and board member in Serbia, spoke about the alumni fund and fundraising, as well as matching donation programs in companies.
Ana Andjelic, an alumni who currently lives and works in New York, reminded everyone of the importance of social capital and that connections and acquaintances should be maintained, as well as how much alumni can promote and help the Studenica Foundation.
After a short break, the moderator and alumni Danica Perišić invited the audience to a discussion.
The first part of the discussion was opened by the representative of the alumni organization, Sandra Davidović. Sandra spoke about plans and goals for organizing and invited others to give ideas and suggestions, and after that alumni Bogdan Djukanovic and Natasa Samardzic talked about the aspect of informal socializing and how important that part of organizing is.
Almost 10 alumni received the floor and gave constructive and innovative ideas for gatherings, organization and fundraising for future generations of scholars.
The moderator, who is also a member of the alumni organization, stated that together we have the power to help the Foundation maintain and continue the work it has been doing for almost 30 years and to continue to fulfill the mission of the Studenica Foundation, which is to support young people through education and development.
After the voting started by alumni Natasa Samardzic, it was decided to hold virtual meetings once in two months, and everyone expressed the interest in a live gathering, when the pandemic ends, where everyone will see each other and socialize after so many years.
A recording of the conference will be available soon on the website and on our YouTube channel, and alumni can expect an e-mail about further steps and plans for the alumni organization.
