Emilija is the winner of the Saint Sava Award

Our scholarship holder Emilija Jovanović is the winner of the Saint Sava Award for 2021, for her exceptional contribution to scientific research work in the field of molecular biology and physiology. The Saint Sava Award is given by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, for outstanding results in the field of education and upbringing, improvement of educational practice, as well as the development of scientific and artistic achievements.
Emilija Jovanović is a student of molecular biology and physiology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, with a current average grade of 9.90.
She was a scholarship holder of the Government of the Russian Federation at St. Petersburg State University, after which she continued her studies of biology in Belgrade. She won a silver medal at the conference of young scientists in Stuttgart, the award "Svetislav Milić", which was awarded to her for her achievements in science and education in 2021, she worked on a project on the application of two-photon polarization microscopy in the study of fluorescent proteins and systems biology in the Czech Republic, for which she was awarded. She is working on the SENSOGENE project at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, which she presented at the Congress of the Serbian Society of Cancer Researchers. She participated in the summer research program of the Biocenter in Vienna, as one of 14 selected students from around the world, dealing with the field of stem cells, and joined the research group of the University of Cambridge, which deals with the application of organoid technology in liver regeneration. She is a member of the European Association for Liver Research and the founder of the Student Section for Molecular Biology, under the auspices of the Serbian Society for Molecular Biology.
