International Mathematics Camp Successfully Concluded
Our scholars in the roles of organizers and lecturers!
The international mathematics camp Maths Beyond Limits Balkans (MBL), held this March in Konjic, brought together over 50 participants and lecturers from 20 countries, including young talents from Brazil, India, and the Balkan region. Launched in the Balkans in 2023, this project aims to introduce high school students to the beauty and applications of mathematics through collaboration with top experts.
The founder of the camp for our region, Boris, emphasizes that the goal is to create a community that goes beyond the boundaries of regular schooling.
"We wanted to provide students from this region with the opportunity to learn about the beauty of mathematics and its applications across various disciplines. I am particularly proud of the community we are building – our participants are becoming organizers, and alumni stay in touch and collaborate on global projects," says Boris, a Studenica Foundation scholar.
Natalija also participated as one of the lecturers, leading sessions focused on a research-based approach to mathematics.
"My goal was to present formal mathematics as a space for exploration rather than a set of facts. The interaction with talented students and the exchange of ideas with colleagues strengthened my desire to work within the academic community, to which I can now contribute in various ways," Natalija shared.
Boris points out that this is the second year in a row that he has met brilliant and inspiring camp lecturers through the Studenica Foundation. Last year it was Nikolija, and this year, Natalija.
