THE NAME OF THE RECIPIENT OF THE PHILANTHROPY AWARD WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE GALA CHARITY EVENING
The name of the first recipient of the “Miroslav Majkl Đorđević” Philanthropy Award will be revealed on November 28 at the Gala Charity Evening at the Aeroclub.
All proceeds from ticket sales for this event will be directed toward scholarships for Serbian students from disadvantaged groups, and tickets can be purchased HERE.
The “Miroslav Majkl Đorđević” Award was established this year and is presented to distinguished individuals from Serbia or of Serbian descent worldwide for exceptional acts of philanthropy and charity that have made a broad positive impact on Serbian society.
The award is named after the founder of the Studenica Foundation and a great Serbian philanthropist, Miroslav Majkl Đorđević (1936-2023).
He emigrated to the United States in 1956, where he worked as a laborer for a time to save money for his education. He graduated in banking and finance from the University of California in 1960. He organized numerous philanthropic initiatives and led the Studenica Foundation during turbulent and challenging years.
The award is given with the intention of preserving Miroslav Majkl Đorđević’s legacy, inspiring others to follow his example in building a better and more connected community, and renewing and strengthening the tradition of philanthropy and charitable work that has greatly contributed to the development of Serbian society and the state.
The recipient of the award will be presented with a sculpture symbolizing charity and philanthropy, designed by young artist and Bogdan Đukanović Foundation alumnus. You can read more about the creation of the sculpture HERE.
The Studenica Foundation is a humanitarian and non-profit organization founded in 1993. With the help of numerous benefactors, it has been supporting the education of Serbian youth for three decades. Since its founding, it has awarded over 2,000 scholarships.
