At the Ceremonial Academy of the Foundation, the Foundation’s scholarship recipients were presented, along with the charitable fundraising initiative aimed at awarding scholarships to a new generation of the best Serbian students in need of financial assistance.
In the recently concluded call for applications, we received over 500 applications, nearly 300 of which merit a scholarship—both due to financial need and outstanding academic achievement. The event, held at the University Library in Belgrade, was one of the ways to increase the number of recipients of the prestigious Studenica Foundation scholarship.
If you would like to join now, the campaign is still ongoing, and you can do so via thislink.
The ceremony was opened with welcoming remarks by members of the Studenica Foundation’s Board of Directors, followed by presentations by the scholarship recipients and a short artistic program.
Actor Bojan Žirović recited the famous poem “Ten Addresses to the Hilandar Mother of God of the Three-Handed Icon” by the great Serbian poet Ljubomir Simović, while young cellist Dunja Krsmanović performed excerpts from compositions by Bach and Vivaldi.
The program concluded with the presentation of the “Miroslav Michael Đorđević” Philanthropy Award, which was bestowed upon TV host and philanthropist Tamara Grujić. According to the jury’s statement, the award recipient is widely known throughout Serbia and the region for the television program “With Tamara in Action” through which she has mobilized a large number of sponsors and local governments to renovate and build more than 300 houses across Serbia, providing homes for nearly 1,200 people, including 1,000 children.
In addition, through special initiatives, she and her team renovated the pediatric oncology ward of the Pediatric Clinic in Kragujevac, secured half of the funds for the purchase of a freight elevator, renovated two rooms for the Association for Cerebral Palsy in Užice, and renovated primary schools in Prokuplje, Pirot, Vranje, Knić, and Babušnica. They also refurbished a house on Fruška Gora intended for the NURDOR Association for the recovery of children after cancer treatment. Furthermore, the facilities of the Association of Single Parents and Families of Children with Disabilities, Plava školjka, near Banja Koviljača, were fully equipped. The Miroslav Michael Đorđević Award (1936–2023) was established in 2024, and its first recipient was Alex Macheski, an American businessman of Serbian descent.
